One of the neighbourhood shoppingcentres was confronted with yet another robbery.
Last thursday one of the shops was target of an individual (as far as we know), and today 3 people robbied the bakery.

A couple tried to make them give up and they were hit by a hammer.
Outside someone parked his car in front of their car, so they had to run away. They lost art of the money.

This is the third robbery in a short time in one of the neighbourhood.
The police states that they're conducted by different people.

Well, I feel very unconfortable when I'm in the shops, even though I'm shopping at another part of town.

The old lady I care for was worried too, and she asked me if it was possible to order groceries and have them delivered at home, like in the old days.

New law

A new law has been accepted in which sex with animals is forbidden.
It's a law to protect animals.
Everyone agrees with that.

But some people voiced their concern about the fact that the law speaks out what is decent and what not, which might lead to interference with behaviour which is considered normal under the present law, but which might be considered indecent when other religions are represented in larger numbers in parliament and government.

And others pointed out that indecent actions are used to enable farm animals to get the best young.
So in fact that is forbidden too.

Q fever

It seems like people are tired of bad news.

Reports about Q fever in this country reveal that already years ago it was known that Q fever was widely spread.
For all sorts of reasons the population wasn't warned, so for over three years people were exposed to the dangers. Like pregnant women.

The last report makes clear how many mistakes were made and that the economical risks for farms were put above health risks.

Yet there are only a handful of people who stand up and speak against it.

That worries me.

irresponsible people causing death

The rescue services sometimes have a hard job recuing people at sea and in the mountains. I admire them to bits.

Last summer many people went to swim in sea, far away from the beach, against all advice and warnings not to do so.

Lots were pulled out of the water, exhausted, because they couldn't cope with the strong currents.

Yesterday and today rescue workers were killed due to the brainless activities of skiers.

When you're told to stay on the pistes, stay there. Don't get yourself in trouble by going outside the prepared areas.

It seems so easy, but it clearly wasn't.

The last two days more than 7 rescue workers lost their loves due to people who didn't care.

2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro

Good news for Rio de Janeiro.

For the first time in history the Olympic Games will be held in South America.

We had a bet here and I've won!!

I'm sure my reasons are different from those of the committee who had to chose.

When I heard Madrid was the other option I know that when there would be a choice between the risk of terrorist attacks and impulsive crowds, the choice would be clear.

One of my friends lives in Rio and I'm sure she's very happy.

I hope life's circumstances of those who live there will improve the coming years.

Delft bookcollection saved

Sometimes the news is interesting.
Remember the enormous fire at the Delft University?

People thought everything was lost, but today I've read that the whole collection of historical books and graphics has been saved from the ruins, unharmed.

I'm so glad for all those people who have worked long hours to get it all together.
People from all ages and a couple of centuries.

I know we have fireproof closets and wardrobes in our building. But they only protect what's in it when the doors are closed and locked.

Most of the time they're open, because we need to be able to take things out and put things in.

Well, I'm glad that some people can feel at ease now.

miracle

Stunning news about the fire disaster at the Delft University.

It turned out that by some miracle the level where maquettes and some historical relevant and unique chairs were stored hasn't been affected by the fire.

I saw on the news that they carried outside some items.

Even though a lot is lost, some people can have a little feeling of happiness.

Right now people try to resume their work and sudies as fast as possible.

Huge fire at Delft University

News: a huge fire at the University of Delft.

Friends are studying there and they have lost everything they didn't have at home.
There a computer back-up, but the practical work, like maquettes, is gone.

Around lunchtime the fire appeared to be under control, but not a long time later it raged through the building.
Part of the building is collapsed, the rest is completely burned empty.
