Even more snow

Imagine you're thinking spring is around the corner and you wake up in a white world with flakes twirling down.

That was my world this morning.

Slippery roads, warnings for traffic problems and the whole lot.

Will we ever experience spring again?

It's march and the nights are sooooo cold!

weather, soup and cake

It's colder here than in vancouver, so maybe we should have had the olympic games here.

Finaly I got my pair of orange gloves.

And I have a few tins of tomato soup I don't like.
So I've invited friends for dinner. Added a a lot of meatballs.
They loved it.

I also made potatoes, meatloaf and spinach.
Nothing very special, because I wanted to bake a cake.

The smell was through the whole house, making it feel warm and cosy.

Just what I wanted.

it snows a gain.

It was very cold today.
This afternoon I had an appointment with the dentist, but it was cancelled because he was stuck in traffic.
I didn't mind.

In the evening, after visiting a friend, I was surprised by a thick layer of snow.
It took me ages to get home.

Turned out that during the day the electricity switched off, so it was terribly cold here.

Well, with my coat on and a blanket around me I wanted for the heating to work again.
Ofcourse there was plenty of drama on internet to raise the temperature.
See my other blog.

Snow is gone and more important matter.

The snow is gone.
It's such a pity, because it made the world look so much better.

On the other hand.
It was a lot easier to go to the school.

Well, there are more important matters.

snow and snow and..more!

It was a slippery slide this morning.
And when snow began to cover the streets, I had problems seeing the slippery parts.
I nearly fell against a car, but was lucky to be able to get a grip on the ground with my feet.

The children were less concentrated.
So I helped out a teacher in the classroom.
But when large snowflakes slowly drifted down by the thousands I just did what I wanted to do and invited the kids to do the same: open the curtains and watch!

We told the children that when they were bored they could sit down and read or draw in silence.

After 10 munites everyone was sitting and silent, and when we started they were able to concentrate.

Last day of the workweek

I almost overslept this morning.
The rain was washing the roof so thoroughly that the sounds was pleasant and sleep evoking.

Because I also have the radio as alarm and I heard the news from afar, I got some kind of reality check in my dreams and suudenly sat straight up in my bed.

When the streets would have been slippery I would have been too late, but now I was in just one minute before the start of the day.

I have problems leading such an overorganised life.
But I have to get used to it.

Right now the streets are plain ice and it's snowing a bit.
I'll do the groceries tomorrow a bit later than usual.
That means a bit of extra sleep. Won't hurt.

again extreme weather

Again the weather is extreme.
Temperatures of minus 15.5 celcius have been measured and it's not even the coldest time of the night.

Like last time the wind sounds strange, like coming from above instead of coming from closer to earth.

I've had a nice day at the school.

Today I was allowed to assist with gymnastics.
Not because it will be my job, but because it's good to see the children in a different environment.

Some children open up completely, while others get withdrawn and insecure.

A great day.

snowed in

We went to a birthdayparty this evening and when we were ready to leave, you know, coats on, goodbyes said, we opened the door and were perplexed.

It was raining, snowing, iceraining, whatever... and the world was white.
And very slippery.

No way we would be able to reach home.

So we went back in and now we hope the showers will drift over and the ice will melt, otherwise we have to stay here all night.

One after each other mailed home or got on the phone and now I'm updating my site because I needed as bit of time for myself.
Behind me two are reading, and it's really quiet here.

In the room at the other side of the house they're having a lot of loud fun.

It's nice to look outside, so nice.
What a pity we can't capture that on a photo.

I hope the weather is a bit more friendly at your place of the world.

weather - here we're lucky

I think we're lucky with the weather here.
There's been strong winds and a bit of snow, but it wasn't as cold as they said.
But maybe we'll get our share this night or tomorrow.

In the north of the country it's bad.

a challenge to go home

Because our studies start again tomorrow we needed to go home.

Yesterday evening traffic in a large part of the country either came to a halt of people got stuck in slow moving traffic for hours.

One of my uncles offered to drive us, but we didn't accept his offer. We can't risk him being on the roads for almost all day.

But he got us to the railwaystation and we had a nice talk before a train arrived.

Going home was a kind of challenge, because not all trains were on schedule.

The roads were OK by the time we arrived here in town. So we took the bus and we're at home now.

I'm so happy to sleep in my own bed again.

But it feels strange after being away such a long time.
It's silent here in the house, and chilly.
I kind of feel like I've landed on my two feet after a long free flight in the air.

Are people different?

There's so much snow, its beautiful!

On the news people were warned not to go on the ice.
But people did anyway.

My uncle prepaired one of the fields, so children and others could skate safe.
Yet, people complained about the snow on the ice.

I don't understand they get stuck in complaining instead of going home and getting a broom to swipe the ice snowfree.

I remember some years ago.
We were about 15 young people and we all went home, got brooms and then cleaned the ice.
It was the least we could do as a gesture of appreciation that my uncle gave his field for ice.
People don't understand what parked cars and the icelayer itself do to the fields.
No crops in the spring. So that costs a lot of money for a few days of fun. Free fun. People even go to the loo at the farm and leave their litter everywhere.

Maybe the people of this year are different?

Snow and more white

When I came back from the birthday celebration we enjoyed the snow.
It was so beautiful in the light of the streetlanterns.

(Mizé, it wasn't my own birthday.)

My plan was to go to family today.
Even though the trains had an adapted plan which was half the normal schedule I thought I could make it.

But when I woke up there was so much snow and a snow- and traffic alarm sounded from the radio.

No busses in town until 12, then it would be reviewed.
Almost no trains.

So no way to leave, as I needed the busses on my side and on the other side.

During the day we got at least 10 cm more snow, so I took a walk instead and enjoyed a good snowfight with friends.

The dinnerinvitation I rejected last week was still available.
So I went and with friends I had a good time, telling snowstories by the candlelight.

It's advised for tomorrow not to travel.
For the first time a negative travel-advice two days in a row.

Well, I don't really mind.

autumn picnick

It was a surprisingly warm autumn day.

We went to the woods with a couple of friend to relax a bit after very hard work on several projects.

It was soo nice to be there. The autumncolours were magnificent.

We had a picknick with sandwiches with salmon, sandwiches with chicken, cookies, salads, and a nice glas of wine, and then some of us went for a walk collecting chestnuts and berries.

We saw some mushrooms, but I'm afraid to eat them, even though one of the boys said he knew enough of them and was a 100% sure they were OK.
I don't want to take the risk.

When I came home I was lazy and relaxed and fell asleep on the couch.

a happymothersday

We're not living at our parent's house anymore.

Yesterday evening we had dinner with my family.
We decided to celebrate mothersday that way, because some of us are sport fanatics and play in competitions. On motherday too.

The food was excellent, my mom felt happy, and the rest of the family was OK.It was nice to catch up.

Today I intended to study and so I did.
Next week I have two exams.
I took my books and went to the part nearby. The wind was really needed to make the temperature bearable.

Just when I was almost ready with the last chapter a friend arrived.

She went to italy for two weeks and was very brown and relaxed.

It was interesting to hear her tell about the friendly people, spaghetti and pizza and the way boys treat girls.

She bought a lovely bag and promised to buy me one when she goes back.

Don't worry, she will.
She met a nice guy.....

red behind closed eyes

Sunday weather was amazing

We were able to sit outside, relax and get a tan.

Many of here at the studenthouse were at their parents.
Only a few of us were here.

In the morning we took the chairs out of the shed and gave them a good clean.
Some of the boys went to a football match and the rest just crashed in the sun.

It's a long time ago I saw the sun as red behind closed eyes.
After being bothered by all sorts of thought my mind started to wander and then it shut itself off.

When I woke up I was as red as a tomato in full season, and all were laughing because my pendent had a white shadow on my skin.

Well, thank you!!

During the night it started to hurt badly.

I don't often feel sorry for myself, but I almost did.

Spring celebration

Marvellous it was!
Oh what a day!

I can't believe what nature is doing!
When going to university this morning I had to get rid of my coat, it was simply too hot.

Yesterday I could see through the trees and shrubs, today it was all green and I couldn't see what's happening behind them anymore.

We all went to the toplevel of our building and had a look at the town... beautiful!
It's a real spring celebration.

It was less fun when we came down. The tutor had a bad mood and he couldn't appreciate us being a few minutes late.
I'm not sure if he planned to teach about the theories of the beginning of last century, but he bored us to death.

It's nice to know history, but it's absolutely of no use for therapeutic treatment at all.
When he left we all were silent and then started a yawnconcerto.

We were finished early today so most of us went to town to sit at the river and have a beer.
It felt like being on vacation.

We're about to watch a video now.
Today the choice was made by the guys, so I'm afraid we're in for an action movie.

Well, I have only limited time at the computer today.
It's still sharingtime.

I'll install the manual buzzfuse widget for another time.
Thanks for commenting!!
I'll visit you when it's quiet here and none is calling for me.

Bye.

This spring weather is perfect

Today the weather was perfect!

Lots of sun.
I could feel the temperature rising when I went to the university.

It was the first day of the year to have lunch outside, watching the clouds pass by.

The weatherforecast anounced more of these days. With a little less wind.

You won't hear me complain.

Soon it's time for outside parties.
I can't wait!

How was your weather?
