unconscious mutterings

You can let your own unconscious speak.
So why not join unconscious mutterings.
Each week Luna Nina gives 10 triggers,
and without thinking the participants give their reaction.

I'm one of them.

  1. Unwanted :: Not needed
  2. You’d better :: sing a nice song.
  3. Woman :: and man
  4. Weighed :: as a witch
  5. Upright :: and strong
  6. I feel :: OK
  7. Ill :: Many people have the flu now
  8. It’s like :: the world never stops turning
  9. Poor man :: doesn't know happiness
  10. Great :: idea

training

Studying involves books, but also learning with other people.

This week we had to practice therapeutical skills on one another.

I don't like to have someone inexperienced dig into my feelings, so I was very happy that I found my name on the list for behavioral therapy.
It's one of the areas one can easily fake a problem.

So I told I wanted to get rid of my smoking habit.

I've never smoked, but I know it's very difficult to stop without falling into the trap of eating too much.

The guy who had to play my therapist smelled badly. It was like the smoke was coming out of his coat at all sides. So I got a few coughing attacks.
He didn't even put two and two together.

Purpose of the course is to make a treatment plan and use it.

He made a plan that forced me to diminish smoking day by day.
He didn't realize new problems can be expected.

So we're in for a lot of fun.

My client had bad eating habits, so I've send her to the doc to get a check up to see if there are any deficiencies, and after that to the dietitian to get a good advice.

So the next meeting is after that.

The supervisor had a good laugh about it, but he agreed completely.
Her problem is sincere and any physical problems need to be excluded, and when she really wants to change her habits she'd better have a good dietplan to stick to.

He kindly extended the coursetime with the extra time needed, so that gives me a bit of room to study extra for a few subjects I took on last week.

spanking to potty train a child

Yes, you'rer reading that title well: spanking to potty train a child.

I blogged about a something I found on internet.

A child was exposed on internet, on the potty, and the mother blogged about spanking to get her child develop to a potty trained little boy.

Because we had to bring in a case to the course of developmental psychology I took the subject and put in forced potty training as a case study.

Is it good to force a child into a developmental stage in which development is directed by physical development and sensitivity to bodily triggers?

The subject was welcomed in different ways, but all positive.

We discussed the subject from our experiences, which was very interesting.
Some didn't remember anything from that time, other remembered the gift they got in the end and some the terrible experience when they had an accident some years later.

All in all, it's the reaction of the parent that makes an emotional difference that can be of importance through life.

The teacher thought the subject interesting enough to plan it again for next week, and he wants to invite the professor in to give more theoretical background.

When I started it all: "inspired by a blog", they laughed about me, but when my fellow students behaved quite different.

old age

Each saturday I help an elderly woman.
The last time she doesn't need only groceries and a bit of help in the house anymore.

In the past she did all her chores, but the heavy ones, like the floors.
But the last months she's getting worse and she can hardly keep up with washing the dishes.

I went to her more and more, untill I was there every evening to cook her evening dinner and clean up.

For me it was nice to eat with someone and she wasn't as alone, but this can't go on.

At first she was against informing the family, butt today she finally gave in and agreed with me it was time to look around for a nice old people's home or for someone in the house every day.

She first asked me to come and live with her, but I can't do that.
I feel that I have to protect myself from becoming even more involved, and I also think she can do with a real nurse at times.

In a way it's so sad to see someone deteriorate that fast.
But it's good she is able to accept the changes.

Next week we'll visit an old peoples home not to far away from where she has been living a long time.
She knows the neighborhood, and even some people there.

I think that she needs to make up her mind before the family does it for her.
They're almost never there, not even last year for christmas.

I hope all will work out well.

a clever student can't be conned

Making money is for some people more important than anything else.
They don't mind conning people.

Like a russian guy who presented himself as a violinist and violin teacher in Rome.

He bought second hands violins and sold them as very valuable 18th century pieces.

He must have laughed a lot.

But he couldn't fool a clever student completely.
He bought one for 650.000 euro (a student....tell me how can he afford that?).

He took the violin to be valued to an expert.
The value of the violin was 3000 euro.

The student told the guy he wanted a second violin and took the police with him.

They interrogated the russian con-artist.

When he came home he hung himself from the balcony.

My mind is still bugged...
Where did the student got the 650.000 euro from?

We're not Holland, we're The Netherlands

There's a difference between Holland and The Netherlands.

A friend kindly gave permission to use her text on my site to explain matters.
Thanks!

Imagine that people don't know the name of your country properly.

Well, it's my daily chore not to get irritated when I'm on internet.

Many people call my country: Holland.
Do you know that Holland isn't even a name for a village?

We do have two provinces with Holland in the name: North-Holland and South-Holland. They're 2 of the western provinces of our country, bordering part of the coast.

And what about: Netherlands?

Oh my dear. Netherlands is the name for a little village in America.

I've found it on internet only once and can't find it back anymore. It's a village of about three streets surrounded by bare hilly land.

I'm sure the CIA (yes, that one) doesn't mean that one when they're referring to Netherlands in their country descriptions.

Well, they're not very accurate anyway when they forget to mention our flowers and flowerbulbs in their overview.

I'm sure the search machines on internet are for a part responsible for the shortening of the name of our country.

It's THE NETHERLANDS.

Pointing to the fact that most part of the country lies below sea level.

We're called: The DUTCH, or the DUTCH people, and we speak DUTCH.

Our flag consists of 3 horizontal stripes: red, white and blue and is one of the oldest of the world.

The colour of our Royal House is orange, and it's now not only an added banner on the flag when our Royal House is involved, but it has become a frequently used national colour after the abuse of the red, white and blue during the last years.

By the way: I don't wear wooden shoes, no white bonnet. But I do love tulips and we have a couple of windmills in my town.

Problems and a decision

I've decided: I'll do the projects myself and report straight to the supervisor.
It's a lot more work, I know that, but I can keep in pace with my other activities that way and I get the credit I deserve.

The others have to reconsider their options and they will be given at least one point off because they were hindering other people in their studies.

The board will be meeting next month over issues like these.
(People working on the same project and not keeping appointments).
I think it's time they formulate some opinions and rules about these issues.
They are not new at all, and not always matters are solved without someone paying with delays in their studies.

Last friday I had a meeting with the supervisor and we talked more through in half an hour than with that group in a whole week.

So I feel happy about it all, and I also feel free to move forward and work hard.

autumn picnick

It was a surprisingly warm autumn day.

We went to the woods with a couple of friend to relax a bit after very hard work on several projects.

It was soo nice to be there. The autumncolours were magnificent.

We had a picknick with sandwiches with salmon, sandwiches with chicken, cookies, salads, and a nice glas of wine, and then some of us went for a walk collecting chestnuts and berries.

We saw some mushrooms, but I'm afraid to eat them, even though one of the boys said he knew enough of them and was a 100% sure they were OK.
I don't want to take the risk.

When I came home I was lazy and relaxed and fell asleep on the couch.

my exams

Self reflection is needed at times.

Working and exams isn't a good combination.
I'm very tired and I've got the feeling I'm underachieving.

So I talked with one of the lecturers and as planned, he agreed to an oral examination.
I'm better that way, anyway, because those written examinations, especially multiple choice, drive me nuts.

I spend more time studying, because I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
So I know all the exceptions on the rules, and most multiple choice questions don't want the exceptions.
But when do they and when not? No idea.

When I can talk my way through an exam, I can explain what I mean, and get the answer right.

won another footballgame

We've won again at the european football contest.
It's unbelievable!
This time against Roemenia.

Many people had concerns about the exchange of 9 wellknown players against others of the team.
They said they didn't have enought contest experience.

Well, they have now.

Even about the lawn no word has been said anymore.
It was soaked last week, and a dutch firm got an emergency order.
A new lawn was created from a thick layer of grass.

Well, it all worked perfect!

2-0

Haha!!
